Dr Pinar Engincan is Founder and currently the Director of SPACE Studies of Planning and Architecture in London. She has graduated from the Department of Architecture at Yildiz Technical University (YTU) in Turkey. She completed her MSc in Architecture which was under the sponsorship of Aga Khan Trust for Culture, Historic Cities Support Programme, and PhD in Architecture in Building Science and Technology Programme/ Housing Production and Construction Management sub-division at YTU. Her main field of expertise is “Housing and Urbanisation Policy”. Her related research interests are housing policy and production, urbanisation, urbanisation policy, regeneration in residential areas, participatory design in housing, and use and production of space, sense of place, place attachment and urban identity in residential areas. After she completed her PhD, she had researched in her field of expertise and had journal articles, conference papers, reports published, research projects and workshops participated and directed. Besides her research activities, she has experience in teaching at graduate and undergraduate levels as she had worked as a Lecturer and an Assistant Professor at Universities in Turkey for 15 years. Meanwhile, she had served at the administrative level of the Universities such as being the Head of the Department of Architecture, Head of Msc and PhD Programmes of Architecture and Institutional Coordinator of International Office for several years.
Secretary / Health LeadPatrick started his working career with 20 years in the Royal Navy as a professional seaman officer before leaving to work in the HIV/AIDS and then hospitality sectors. He spent several years as manager of a central London gay bar and restaurant, following this with time as a marketing director in the broadcast industry and then in a variety of roles in the charity sector. More recently, he has worked as Peter Tatchell’s general manager and as a professional charity fundraiser.
Patrick has also been volunteering for over 25 years, mainly at a senior level. He co-led the successful ‘Gays in the Military’ campaign in the 90’s; was a director (and vice chair) of GMFA for 6 years and has been a director for London LGBT+ Community Pride (responsible for Community Engagement) since 2012.
Ben Glover is an artist and designer who graduated with a Master’s in Digital Theatre at Wimbledon College of Art.
He is looking forward to bring his creative and technical skills to the Merton LGBT+ Forum. In his spare time he enjoys watching football, rocking out at a gig and going to the theatre.
